Research

   The Republic of Moldova has a rich natural environment in terms of landscape diversity, located in three main eco-regions of Europe: the Central European mixed forests, the Pontic steppe and the Eastern European forest-steppe. The country's flora includes about 1550 species from 550 genera and 101 families. The most important strategy for the conservation of nature's biodiversity and the sustainable use of plant resources focuses on the establishment of protected natural ecosystems.

  A component of the natural ecosystem is the plant collection of the Scientific-Practical Center of Medicinal Plants (SPCMP) of the "Nicolae Testemitanu" SUMPh. Here are organized and carried out scientific researches on the basis of institutional projects financed from the state budget, as well as initiative researches at the level of scientific papers of students, residents, master's and doctoral students. At the same time practical internships of the students of the Faculty of Pharmacy, workshops, symposia take place at the SPCMP.

RESEARCH DIRECTIONS:

  • biological study of medicinal plants from spontaneous and cultivated flora of the Republic of Moldova;
  • phytochemical study of medicinal plants from SPCMP collection;
  • introduction in culture of medicinal plants from local spontaneous flora and from other floristic regions;
  • study of conditions for growing and elaboration of cultivation technologies for medicinal plants;
  • creation of scientific database for production of seed and planting materials.
